Thượng Tuần Tháng Giêng là những ngày nhớ đến Thần Tản Viên.

Qua tài liệu, Thần Tản Viên là Sơn Tinh trong chuyện Sơn Tinh và Thuỷ Tinh chăng.

Có nhớ mang máng bài ca:
Nhớ thuở xưa kia, non nước an lạc thái bình, thái bình...
...Cầu hôn, cầu hôn công chúa....

Mong quý Thành Viên nhắc nhở. Đa tạ.

With Ha Dong as provincial capital, Ha Tay lies to the southwest of and at the entrance to Ha Noi capital. For this reason, all of its tourist attractions are around 50km from the centre of Ha Noi and easily accessible by land. Chua Huong (Perfume Pagoda) stands amidst a large area of scenic interest named Huong Son in My Son district, almost 70km to the southwest of Ha Noi. Actually, Chua Huong (Perfume Pagoda) is a complex of pagodas and Buddhist shrines and natural scenery consisting of mountains ( Mam Xoi or Raspberry mountain, Con Ga or Cock mountain, Voi or Elephant mountain, Lon or Kylin mountain...), forests, streams (Yen and Tuyet), grottoes (Huong Tich, Hinh Bong, Ngoc Long, Chua Tien) and pagodas (Ngoai or Cho, Trong or Huong, Hinh Bong, Long Van, Bao Dai...). The most outstanding spots are Huong Tich Grotto and Huong Pagoda. Nam Thien De Nhat Dong (The most beautiful grotto in the South) - the distinction conferred by Lord Trinh Sam - remains visible on the wall of Huong Tich Grotto. It is in the area surrounding Perfume Pagoda that the traces of the primitive mankind as well as the archaeological artifacts of the Hoa Binh-Bac Son cultures have been discovered. Perfume Pagoda is also reputed for its valuable medicinal herbs. Dong Mois a tourist attraction for those who love nature and are fond of golf. At the very foot of Ba Vi mountain is Dong Mo, a poetic valley with a man-made reservoir covering 1,500 ha and more than 20 islets. Dong Mo Golf Course is covered with velvety, verdant grass, and has 18 holes of international standard. In addition, Ha Tay attracts local and foreign visitors by such beautiful sites as Son Tay Citadel, Tay Phuong Pagoda, Chua Thay (Master's Pagoda). At last is Tan Vien Temple in Ba Vicommune (Ba Vidistrict, Ha Tay). Built in the times of the northern domination, this temple was in dedication to God of Tan Vien Mountain or Mountain God.

Long, long time ago during the Hong Bang Dynasty (2879-258 B.C.), King Hung Vuong The 18th had a young and very beautiful daughter named Mi Nuong. Her beauty was so renowned to many young, handsome, and powerful men within the kingdom and from many other foreign lands afar. Many had come to King Hung Vuong and expressed their wish of taking the Princess' hand. However, none had won the Princess' heart nor the King's approval. Days after days, Princess Mi Nuong was getting even more beautiful than ever before. Because of this, King Hung Vuong was very worried and anxious that he could not find perfect suitor for his daughter.

One day, there were two young, mighty, and very distinguished men came before King Hung Vuong and expressed their wishes to marry the Princess. They were Son Tinh (Lord of all Mountains) and Thuy Tinh (Lord of all Seas). They each introduced themselves to the King.

- I am Son Tinh. I ruled over all mountains and their creatures.
And , I'm Thuy Tinh. I ruled over all seas and all creatures under the seas.
Upon talking with the two, King Hung Vuong was very pleased. However, he could not decided whom he should choose to marry his only daughter. The King thought to himself and then said:

- I had only one daughter, but both of you wished to marry her. I don't know which of you I should choose. So to be fair to both of you, tomorrow morning, whoever bring the wedding gifts in to me first, shall marry my daughter.
Each went back to his own kingdom and ordered his subjects to go out and the most beautiful and rare gifts within his kingdom. The next morning, Son Tinh was the first to present his gifts to King Hung Vuong. As promised, the King allowed Son Tinh to marry his daughter, Princess Mi Nuong. After the wedding, Son Tinh took his wife to his home on Tan Vien Mountain (now Ba Vi Mountain in Son Tay Province, Vietnam). Thuy Tinh also came with gifts from the seas, but found out that he had lost to Son Tinh. With his hot-tempered, Thuy Tinh was furious. With his magic sword, he ordered rain to pour down, raised up the sea level with tidal waves hoping to flood all Son Tinh's mountains.

Son Tinh, on the other hand, also had a magic wand. Every time Thuy Tinh raised his sea level, Son Tinh also raised up his mountains range. He also ordered lightning to strike down on Thuy Tinh killing a lot of Thuy Tinh's subjects. Thus had forced Thuy Tinh to withdraw his sea level down in defeat while Son Tinh lived happily with the Princess on top of Tan Vien Mountain.

Since then, they became enemy. Each year around June and July, Thuy Tinh would raise war against Son Tinh again. As the result, each year around these two months, there would heavy rain and flooding.
